Nail fungus is a common state that starts as white, yellow or black patches on the skin under your fingernail or toenail. As the fungal infection grows deeper, nail fungus causes your nail to dull, stiffen and disintegrate at the edge. It can even affect several nails but usually not all of them at once. If your condition is mild and not bothering, you may not need treatment. But If your nail starts paining and has stiffened nails, immediate care and medication is required. Even if the treatment is successful and the nail fungus is cured, you need to take precautions as the nail fungus often comes back because it is a fungus infection and a complete course of treatment is necessary. When the nail fungus infects your toenail, the skin of your feet and the skin under the nail, it is known as athlete's foot (tinea-pedis). Medical terms for nail fungus is tinea unguium and/or onychomycosis. RELATED TOPICS >> Toenail Fungus Treatment - Best Reviews
